After a stint in the military during the Korean War, Mr. Moore returned to Michigan and began studies at Michigan State University. Obtaining degrees in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, he joined several large corporations during the following years, but remained active in the construction field with building projects in Georgia, Florida, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Oklahoma and Texas to name a few. In 1978, Mr. Moore underwent open-heart surgery. After recovering he decided to concentrate on residential construction only, so in 1980 he relocated to Austin, Texas and formed T/C Builders. With the company, named after Mr. Moore's late father and late father-in-law, Mr. Moore began building custom homes through out the area. It was during a slump in the local home construction industry that Mr. Moore began to get requests for his assistance to help clients build their own homes. To assist people in doing their own construction management, he began writing instructions concerning the clients needs. Over the next 14 years, the instruction sheets grew in volumes, from which the 'T/C Helps-U-Build™" manual was developed. In 1997, Thomas/Clyde Incorporated was formed. Limited quantities of the manual were distributed, many going to builders and building organizations as training manuals for their construction foremen and supervisors. After more than 50 years of building experience, 20 of them in custom home building, 14 years of writing and instruction, 2 years of planning and developing illustrations to help those that have problems visualizing what they want, the "T/C Helps-U-Build™" manual is complete and available to the general public through the Internet. Though retired, Mr. Moore remains active in home construction, and is often called upon for advice and assistance from builders, sub-contractors, developers, investors, and those who want to build their own homes. The Thomas/Clyde family of employees are actively involved in "T/C Helps-U-Build™" and a constant stream of information flows through the organization. Updates in equipment, systems and styles are upgraded to bring the client as much of the changes that occur in the field as possible. Thomas/Clyde has developed a system to mail new and/or changed chapters that may occur to clients during the first six months after receiving their "T/C Helps-U-Build™" manual. Simply remove the old chapter, and insert the new one. We ask that our clients keep us informed of their progress and mail pictures of their project during and after construction. Once a year Mr. Moore selects one client that shows the best results to receive an award as "T/C Helps-U-Build™" National Home Builder of the Year. We at Thomas/Clyde wish you the very best, keep us informed of your progress and feel free to contact us at anytime that we can be of assistance. Peggy Morris |
